Earth's Resources

Every day we use Earth's resources. These are resources that come from the Earth/nature. Examples of earth's resources include rocks, trees, air, soil, and water. Choose two of Earth's resources and tell what we use them for.

Animal Groups

We group or classify animals by their characteristics and features. We have been studying animal groups in class. Students have learned about mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds.
The San Diego Zoo website is a great website to review with your child. As you browse the website, here are a few questions you can discuss with your child:

What features do Amphibians have? What features do insects have? What do fish and birds have in common? What do reptiles and amphibians have in common?
Ask your child to identify different animals and explain which animal group they belong to.

Living Communities

We are currently learning about living communities. Some people live in urban areas and others live in rural areas or suburban areas. Have a discussion about what type community you and your child reside. What type of community do other family members reside?

Ask your child where they would find each of the following words (Some words may belong to more than one area):

cow, skyscrapers, buses, taxis, houses, farmers, barn, train

Enrichment: Ask your child to add their own words
